dickmanns

Wednesday, March 31st, 2004

this one just writes itself.. i’m gonna just post exactly what it says on their site… ahh germans.

Dickmann’s is the chocolate foam kiss

Since 1985 Super Dickmann’s has been the biggest among the chocolate foam kisses.

Who doesn’t know the slogan “Man, they are Dickmann”? Under this motto Super Dickmann’s from Storck quickly became Germany’s most popular chocolate foam kiss.

Mini-Dickmann’s was then introduced in 1990. These products are also enjoyed by people in some neighboring European countries.

In 1997 CocoCabana added a hint of Caribbean flair in Germany.

Monday, March 29th, 2004

Here’s a little snippet of a Yahoo! Instant Messenger conversation I just had.. is YIM blocking Google URLs?? I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but.. this is just too weird… and, please no comments about me searching for a “prom dress”.. it’s one of our most popular searches on mySimon, so I use it a lot as a test case…

gay or asian?

Friday, March 26th, 2004

i mean.. ok, jokes are funny and stuff, and april issues of magazines always have april fools stuff in them… but, what the hell was DETAILS thinking when they put this page in the most recent issue of their mag? gay or asian? i mean, it’s not even funny. just kinda dumb. i dunno. i don’t even know if i’m offended or not. it’s almost like the details guys are trying to do a half-ass imitation of the maxim attitude, and dreadfully failing. i mean, in maxim’s april issue, they have funny shite like some watch with a 176 carat diamond in it for “the man that is too rich to care about the time”. for april fools, car and driver does cool stuff like road tests f-18s and stuff.. i mean honestly, details..

golfing from your couch

Thursday, March 25th, 2004

There’s a great article in Wired about how playing golf simulation games can really help out your real game (something i’ve been saying for ages now.. i’m a HUGE HUGE HUGE fan of Tiger Woods Golf 2004 for the PS2). Anyway, give it a read, and go get yourself a golf game.. they ROCK. Anyway, the article goes on to describe some more simulation games, including one made by Full Swing down in San Diego that actually lets you swing at balls in your living room. Oh boy.

what happens when you mix up a mischevious staff, a TON of post-its, and an accidentally unlocked office? this.

Dr. Strangelove

Friday, March 19th, 2004

Oooo.. now that we’re “post cold-war”, check out these soviet ICBM launch keys on eBay (man.. i love eBay — especially since “eBay” is “Be” in pig latin). These things were made with titanium.. those soviets sure did know how to make cool doomsday stuff.

BMW’s easter egg

Friday, March 12th, 2004

Oooo.. there’s an easter egg in the BMW M3’s sequential manual gearbox — apparently, if you tap the right sequence in the gear shift, the car will launch you from a stop at 5,000 RPM..

So.. what happens if you do “up-up-down-down-left-right-left-right-start-start”?

motorcycle robot.

Friday, March 5th, 2004

The DARPA Autonomous challenge is starting in a few days.. Teams have to design and build a ground vehicle to autonomously go from LA to Vegas in less than 10 hours. Winner takes home a $1 million cash prize. Man.. it’s such a cool race. I really wish that I had gotten a team together to do this.. i’m yearning for my HEV days, i guess. Anyway, most teams are building an SUV with some sort of self-drive-guidance system, but check out this autonomous motorcycle riding robot built for the race. frikkin cool.

subway systems of the world

Thursday, March 4th, 2004

ok, this one’s for korby… subways of the world, presented on the same scale. pretty neato. note the conspicuous absence of the san francisco subway. yah, cuz we don’t have one. one of note anyway.
