sms notes..

i send myself sms’s once in awhile (usually from YIM) to remind myself of addresses and phone numbers and stuff… apparently i have a very, very short term memory, since i’ always suprised when i then get the message on my phone..

me: (sends self an SMS)
(moments later)
phone: beep!
me: Ooo! I wonder who sent me a message!

I feel like that guy from memento.

april fools 2005

so.. remember everyone, today is april fool’s day (and zuad and monnia’s birthdays! happy birthday zuad and monnia!)

anyway.. here’s a running list of the april fool’s jokes that i’m finding around the web…

  • Homestarrunner announces a new “PAY PLUS” program.. (only $19.95/month or $499.95/week!)
  • After last year’s announcement of gmail on April Fool’s day turned out NOT to be a joke, Google playfully announces that they’ve increased storage space to “infinity plus one” (you have to log out of gmail to see it). That part’s a joke.. But, they HAVE increased it to 2+ gigs…
  • In keeping with tradition, Google has another non-sensical April Fool’s day press release.. this time, Google Gulp. A series of drinks that poke fun at the flak they’ve been taking around Auto-Link. Clever.
  • Bloglines has two silly press releases that belie their geeky nature. They’re launching a bloglines translation in Klingon. Yah. Klingon.
  • boringboring is a well-done play on boingboing…
  • AskJeeves launches Jeeves9000, the humanoid search robot. They worked really hard to be cooler than Google; they even made a movie.. Now, when you watch that movie, Jeeves9000 pulls *something* out of the couch after the voice says that he “anticipate[s] user needs” — to which the woman exclaims “oooo!”.. now i’m not sure exactly what it was that he pulled out of the couch, but it was kind of long and cylindrical looking.

    • Hmm.. I just found this.. a list of april fool’s day jokes for 2005.. And you can submit ones as you find them. neat. So, I guess I’ll just post what I think the good ones are here…
