my friends in the news..

Monday, August 25th, 2008

A few of my awesome friends were recently in the news.. Sabrina was featured in the May issue of Smart Money (complete with a glossy photo spread) in the article Should Boomers Trust the MTV Crowd With Their Money?, and then today, Audris was in the news for her work on a building in Troy, Michigan.

Congrats Sabrina and Audris, you guys rock.

One of my lifelong goals of getting a myself into a stipple hedcut in the Wall Street Journal is still unmet, but I figure I still have time…

So.. a few years ago, I posted an image of a monkey washing a cat. Well, you’re all in luck, because I came across it again, and this time, bigger and in higher quality.

Behold:

If anyone ever tells you that the Internet is a waste of time, you can send them right over here.

Movie: The Fall

Monday, August 11th, 2008

A bunch of us headed over to the Red Vic last night to see The Fall. Directed by the same dude that did The Cell, it was an equally visual movie.

I enjoyed it. It is a movie about storytelling, which is one of my favorite themes (like one of my all time favorites, Big Fish).

So yah.. that’s my review. Wow, I’m not so good at movie reviews.. maybe that’s why I don’t write these very much. I’ll try harder next time, I promise.

Anyway, here’s the trailer… go see it.

particle physics rap

Friday, August 1st, 2008

So, yah, I have a secret love for particle physics. There, I said it.

In the 11th grade, I attended a super nerdy particle physics summer camp at Northwestern.. Yah, while most kids were out frolicking their summers away, I was learning about all sorts of uber-nerdy stuff like quarks, muons, something-ons, and a whole bunch of stuff that really was completely useless from the standpoint of a high school kid. And, we got to go and visit Fermilab which is this super huge particle accelerator. That said, it was pretty much the peak of my particle physics education.

So, that’s why when I found this rap about particle physics this morning on BoingBoing, I was super amused. And the flow is actually not bad..

Uh yah.. nerdy. Like super duper nerdy.
